Under the direction of the provider, the Clinical Assistant provides general support and functions for the Medical Assistant and practice. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. This role involves floating between medical office practices, sometimes with short notice. Key responsibilities include preparing patients for visits by taking histories and vital signs, performing routine testing, and inputting data from patient questionnaires. The assistant will set up rooms for procedures, act as a chaperone for providers, and prepare instruments for reprocessing. They will maintain documentation standards, review charts prior to appointments, and accurately document required information. Additionally, the role involves scheduling outside tests or procedures, coordinating admissions and referrals, cleaning and stocking exam rooms, and conducting daily inventory of supplies. The assistant will also help patients with check-in and check-out, assist in scheduling appointments in the EMR system, answer and direct phone calls, and confirm patient appointments. They will assist in completing various patient forms and attend required meetings. Performs other related duties as assigned by medical assistants, nurses, practice managers, or providers within their scope.
