About The Position

Responsible for substitute teaching in the classroom, skills lab, and/or clinical areas of the nursing program on an as needed basis. Provides instruction to the students in both theoretical and clinical competencies. Ensures students are compliant with the program policies and professional standards. Requirements

  • Must hold a valid, unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Must present evidence of a minimum of two years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a teacher.
  • Must meet requirements set forth by the state and national approval/accreditation agencies.
  • A minimum of a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office components (MS Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and instruction to students in the clinical settings.
  • Assigns students to patients/and or learning experiences based on objectives, student level of ability and identified learning needs.
  • Demonstrates satisfactory student management and instructional effectiveness in the clinical setting.
  • Observes and evaluates student's clinical performance as required by the clinical grading model.
  • Keeps accurate record of student attendance
  • Performs teaching duties with personal accountability and responsibility.
  • Completes orientation to the policies and procedures of the nursing program, clinical coursework and the clinical affiliates.
  • Maintains professional accountability by being punctual according to the scheduled clinical hours at assigned clinical facilities; wearing approved attire and nametag in order to be identified as a Francis Tuttle adjunct instructor; and maintaining A.H.A. BLS-CPR Healthcare Provider certification, required immunizations, and health records.
