About The Position

Tidewater Community College (TCC) is seeking part-time Practical Nursing Education Program Instructors for the College’s Beazley School of Nursing. TCC has served South Hampton Roads for 50 years and is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads. The college has 4 campuses and serves nearly 25,000 students.

Requirements

• Must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.
• Must have at least two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Must have at least one (1) year of experience in the clinical specialty area of the course to which assigned.
• Must have at least one (1) year of experience in teaching or supervising nursing students.
• Must have a Master's degree in Nursing or a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and be actively pursuing a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Must have current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction, supervision, and evaluation of student’s performance in clinical and lab settings.
• Supervise and evaluate groups of students (usually 6-10 students) in hospital or health care settings.
• Understand the objectives of the assigned course and be familiar with the nursing curriculum.
• Maintain a collaborative and positive relationship with the clinical site, other faculty, and staff.
• Maintain student records, including accurate clinical hours, and sign off at the end of each clinical day.
• Meet and communicate with students on a regular basis to provide academic feedback.
• Accurately complete clinical paperwork.
• Participate in all mandatory trainings, and/or meetings required before and during the semester, to include site-specific orientation.
