About The Position

Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NEDHSA) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Practical Nurse Licensed 3 to assist with clinical nursing duties. This role involves assisting physicians in providing routine care to outpatient clients, utilizing specialized skills for psychiatric nursing care to adults with multiple psychiatric and behavioral disorders. The incumbent will receive supervision from the RN Supervisor A in collaboration with the Facility Clinic Manager and must adhere to professional nursing standards. Requirements

  • Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.
  • Two years of experience as a licensed practical nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and prepares charts for medication management, including necessary paperwork such as AIM, informed consent for meds, forms for lab monitoring, reassessment forms, and psychiatric update forms.
  • Works closely with NEDHSA Pharmacy to assist clients with medication pickups.
  • Maintains the order and integrity of health records.
  • Maintains appropriate licensing and certifications, providing yearly verification.
  • Adheres to all LDH, NEDHSA, Civil Service, and professional standards, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Observes clients to assess total health and clinic response to medications.
  • Interviews clients individually during med management clinics to screen for present mental illness, check vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature), and calculate BMI (weight and height).
  • Conducts AIMS assessments.
  • Provides crisis intervention, medication education, monitoring, and administration (if needed) for adults with mental illness.
  • Initiates treatment plans and schedules reassessments for med track clients.
  • Schedules initial and follow-up med management appointments for all clients.
  • Adheres to UM guidelines.
  • Requests labs according to NEDHSA lab guidelines and provides instructions to clients.
  • Contacts local pharmacies for clients.
  • Initiates and completes prior authorizations, diagnosis codes, and overrides for medications.
  • Administers IM injections and monitors responses to medication.
  • Conducts CPR training for the agency as needed.
  • Staffs cases with the physician during med management clinic.
  • Completes written and electronic records with concurrent documentation.
