About The Position

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Practical Law Intern to join the Capital Markets & Corporate Governance team. This internship offers real-world project experience and the opportunity to grow talents on a supportive and inclusive team. The intern will support the CMCG editorial team in researching, drafting, and maintaining legal practice resources covering capital markets, securities regulation, corporate governance, and startup/venture matters. Requirements

  • Completed first or second year at an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and express complex legal material quickly and accurately.
  • Impressive command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English.
  • Consistent strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, consistently meet deadlines, and achieve individual objectives within larger team projects.
  • Experience using Westlaw and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

  • Support the CMCG editorial team in researching, drafting, and maintaining legal practice resources covering capital markets, securities regulation, corporate governance, and startup/venture matters.
  • Research current SEC rules, exchange listing standards, and market practice on assigned topics.
  • Draft or update Practical Law content (practice notes, standard documents, checklists) under editor supervision.
  • Fact-check and cite-check existing resources against primary sources (SEC releases, exchange rules, case law).
  • Track regulatory developments (e.g., SEC rule proposals/adoptions) and flag content impacted.
