About The Position

Atom.com is seeking an entry-level PR & Communications Specialist to support media outreach and gain practical public relations experience in a fast-moving startup environment. The role works closely with the marketing and leadership teams to organize outreach, manage media lists, and support pitching for startup announcements, product launches, and brand storytelling. It is intended for someone early in their PR career with some exposure to media outreach or communications who is ready to develop their skills.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience in PR, communications, or journalism.
Exposure to media outreach, pitching, or content creation through an internship, agency, or in-house role.
Strong writing and editing skills.
Comfort with Google Sheets and Docs, and strong organizational skills.
Interest in startups, tech, or branding.
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and execute consistently.

Responsibilities

Research relevant journalists, editors, and outlets across business, tech, and startup media.
Maintain and organize media lists in a shared tracker, segmenting them by topic, beat, and campaign.
Send pitches and follow-ups using pre-written messaging and templates.
Track outreach activity and journalist responses, and help ensure consistent, timely follow-up cycles.
Assist with updating press releases, pitch templates, and briefing documents.
Provide light writing and editing support.
Coordinate media outreach around product launches and announcements.
Support scheduling and logistics for PR campaigns.
Maintain spreadsheets tracking outreach activity and coverage, and log responses, opens, and placements.
