PR and Communications Manager

Babylist
$121,400 - $161,900Remote

About The Position

Babylist is looking for a hands-on PR & Communications Manager to shape how consumers, media, partners, investors, and prospective leaders understand who we are and where we’re going. You’ll create a proactive communications roadmap that positions Babylist as a category-defining family platform and modern technology company. Connecting product innovation, business growth, partnerships, leadership perspectives, and cultural moments, you’ll tell cohesive stories about how we build and why it matters to modern families. You’ll own consumer and corporate PR, develop distinctive executive points of view, and match the right leaders with high-impact opportunities across press, podcasts, and industry events. You’ll also lead an awards strategy that strengthens credibility and demonstrates Babylist’s momentum.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years in PR or communications, ideally a mix of in-house and agency (or editorial) time, with enough in-house experience to know what it's like to have real skin in the game.
  • Excellent, independent writer. Can ghostwrite a leadership LinkedIn post or a founder's Substack essay in someone else's voice.
  • Thinks in cohesive narratives, not one-off announcements. Can connect a product launch, company milestone, executive perspective, or partnership to a larger story about where Babylist is headed.
  • Can tell a human story as well as a tech or product story, and vice versa.
  • Able to get into real debates about the right angle for us and able to see around the corner when it comes to press, PR, and comms.
  • Plugged into media, ecommerce, and employer branding trends, and knows how to balance the numbers (reach, coverage quality) with what's actually on-brand.
  • Comfortable prepping senior leaders for press and standing next to them when it happens, showroom activations, live press moments, and executive visibility work included.
  • Has real relationships across digital, print, and broadcast media, and knows how to land the right placement, Forbes or NYTimes-caliber, not just any hit.
  • Works East Coast hours and can travel to NYC on short notice. Needs to be online and available on East Coast time as well as able to travel.
  • Comfortable with a lot of trust and not a lot of hand-holding.
  • Naturally reaches for AI in their work. Already using it to move faster and improve output, and stays curious about what's coming next.

Responsibilities

  • Build an integrated PR and communications roadmap across leadership, business growth, product and technology innovation, partnerships, social impact, and workplace culture.
  • Grow consumer press coverage beyond what our agency partners currently drive.
  • Amplify our work with celebrity, influencer, and social-impact partners, and turn moments like our past high-profile partnerships into real, sustained coverage.
  • Build a distinctive thought-leadership platform for Babylist executives through ghostwriting, media opportunities, podcasts, and relevant industry stages.
  • Land targeted executive placements at the outlets and podcasts that actually matter to our category, not a scattershot pitch list.
  • Manage our external PR and influencer agency partners day to day, and know when their ideas are worth running with.
  • Own our corporate comms collateral: team and press pages, press releases, leadership presentations.
  • Show up in person for press moments and showroom activations.
  • Partner across Product, Data, Insights, Partnerships, Social Impact, and People teams to proactively identify stories and build a consistent communications pipeline.
  • Build the internal playbooks that let the rest of the company tell our story consistently.
  • Own Babylist’s awards strategy, using recognition and external validation as proof points for the company’s broader story.
  • Establish clear measures of impact across awareness, credibility, quality of coverage, executive visibility, and engagement.

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
  • Winter Wonder Week: the whole company takes a paid week off at the end of the year, whether or not you celebrate anything, so everyone's out at once and comes back refreshed
  • Remote work stipend to set up your office
  • Perks for physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
