About The Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a PPI Business System Specialist III for the Purification and Pharma Analytics division. This role is crucial for enabling profitable growth and increasing employee engagement by facilitating the implementation of the Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System. The specialist will collaborate with key stakeholders to lead projects and Kaizen events, deploying structured problem-solving to improve systems and eliminate waste. The position involves hands-on leadership of continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities through various methods, supporting 5S activities, and fostering a culture of action and improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management, or related field of study.
  • 3 years of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or related experience.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering Management, or related field of study plus 1 year of experience as an Industrial Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or related experience.
  • Experience and a ‘hands-on’ track record of leading teams and projects focused on continuous improvement.
  • Experience with facilitating improvements by using structured problem-solving tools and methods such as Pareto analysis, Fishbone Diagram, Leader Standard Work, 5S, Tiered Daily Management, and value stream mapping.
  • Experience with data gathering, dashboards, visual controls, and data analytics.
  • Project leadership experience with demonstrated ability to effectively develop project plans.
  • Experience training and coaching teams in continuous improvement activity.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the implementation of Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc.’s Practical Process Improvement (PPI) Business System for the Purification and Pharma Analytics division.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to lead projects and Kaizen events by deploying structured problem-solving that improves systems and eliminates waste.
  • Lead and facilitate hands-on continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events that support the annual business objectives.
  • Work closely with teams to identify improvement opportunities through employee ideas, Gemba, value stream mapping, data analysis, and tiered daily management.
  • Provide hands-on support of 5S activity to optimize site footprint and eliminate waste.
  • Collaborate with site and network Leaders, PPI change champions, and stakeholders to identify ways to accelerate the culture change necessary to support the PPI Business System.
  • Foster an action-biased culture to improve KPIs through tiered daily management and structured problem-solving.
  • Train, coach, and mentor all levels of the organization on lean principles and practices.
  • Support improvements to data gathering, dashboards, visual controls, and data analytics.
  • Drive best practices across the sites through effective sharing and collaboration.
