About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Technician I to join their Electrical team PPE Department in Cortland, New York. The Electrical business line at Intertek has over 100 years of product testing expertise and helps clients meet safety, performance, environmental, and quality requirements across various industries. Intertek is a Total Quality Assurance Provider, aiming to bring quality, safety, and sustainability to life. The PPE Technician I will provide technical support for engineering staff, performing routine testing, maintenance, and clean-up duties. This position involves potential travel of 10-15%.

Requirements

  • Ability to work Full Time, First Shift, Monday-Friday 8:00am until 4:30pm
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0+ years of experience

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to travel, up to 15%

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or associate’s degree in technical field
  • 1+ year of relatable experience

Responsibilities

  • Set up test apparatus
  • Perform basic analysis of test data and routine calculations
  • Provide exceptional customer experience to all customers throughout the onsite testing
  • Interact with customers in a professional manner including appearance and attitude
  • Diligent safety practices, knowledge of OSHA standards, and use of safety equipment as required by management
  • Work closely with lead/ crew members and take direction to complete projects within certain policies and procedures
  • Daily cleanup and maintenance of projects, work equipment, work site, vehicles and organize all tools and materials
  • Perform site survey activities with a team
  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment
