About The Position

The Powerline Technician (Line) Team Lead is responsible for the organizing, coordinating, planning, monitoring, assessing and directing activities of designated line and service employees and contract resources in such a manner that operations, maintenance or capital work is carried out in a safe, efficient and expeditious manner. This position is key in the delivery of superior customer service and maintaining positive customer relations.

Requirements

  • Valid Journeyman Power Lineman Certificate
  • Ability to obtain Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s license
  • Ability to obtain Class 1 or Class 3 Operator’s license
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Journeyman Power Lineman
  • Strong utilities knowledge, skills and experience at the journeyman level to provide guidance and leadership for employees reporting to this position
  • Sound computer skills, including Mobile TC & Viewer, Networks, Forsite, MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of Maximo and OFS an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of live line techniques using bare hand, sticks and 25kv rubber glove work achieved through live line training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, schedules, assigns and coordinates construction, maintenance and restoration work activities, including maintenance planning, resource allocation and efficient use of equipment, materials and budget.
  • Directs and performs construction, maintenance, testing, repair, commissioning, operation and restoration activities on transmission/distribution systems, ensuring work complies with approved standards, procedures and work methods.
  • Responds to customer complaints, service interruptions, line patrols, trouble locates and service restorations as required.
  • Applies company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety and Environment, Accounting and PSWS requirements.
  • Supports the development and implementation of construction standards, new work methods, procedures, and job knowledge competencies.
  • Requisitions materials and supplies, and prepares and approves reports, work plans and permits.
  • Leads, coaches and develops company and contract workers, PLT apprentices and line personnel by setting objectives, monitoring performance, providing feedback, identifying training needs and assessing demonstrated competency.
  • Supports budgeting, business planning and forecasting by monitoring project costs, reconciling invoices, approving timesheets and expense claims, completing monthly forecasts, and providing input into customer forecasts as required.
  • Maintains a safe work site by correcting unsafe conditions, managing safety barriers, reporting incidents, and supporting incident investigations.
  • Performs standby duties.
  • Performs other duties as required.
