About The Position

This is a 12-hour shift position with rotations between 7a to 7p and 7p to 7a, rotating monthly. The role involves operating various systems within the powerhouse department, including boilers, turbines, gas compressors, fire protection systems, water supplies, water softening systems, and wastewater treatment plants. The position requires a strong focus on safety, the ability to follow procedures, and the capacity to react quickly and safely in emergency situations. The operator will also be responsible for monitoring data systems and making frequent rounds of the entire plant in all weather conditions.

Requirements

• Ability to be trained and follow procedures in all areas of powerhouse department
• To work safely
• Basic math and computer skills
• Good communication skills
• Ability to do water test
• Attention to detail with ability to react quickly and safely in emergency situations
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
• Person will be required to be trained in CPR/ first aid / AED/ BBP
• Will need to have basic mechanical abilities
• Will be required to work in confined spaces
• Will be required to be trained and act as a Hazwoper Level 2 Responder

Responsibilities

• Operate boiler and work with steam
• Operate turbine and work with high voltage electricity
• Operate gas compressor and work with high pressure natural gas
• Monitor and operate fire protection system including fire pump
• Monitor multiple water supplies and make adjustments as needed
• Operate plant water softening systems
• Operate plant wastewater treatment plant
• Make frequent rounds of entire plant in all weather conditions
• Monitor several data systems within the area
