Power Systems Technical Communicator
About The Position
Since 1952, Mustang has proudly served the construction, oil & gas, power generation, marine, and manufacturing industries as the authorized Caterpillar® dealer for Southeast Texas. Mustang Cat is looking for an Engine Technical Communicator to provide expert technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and enhance the skills of dealer technicians within their Power Systems Division. This role involves assisting service teams across various locations in diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues, providing expert guidance to Mustang Power Systems shop & field service teams (Large Bore 290, Marine, EPG, Tomball, Waller), and collaborating with Caterpillar engineers via DSN to resolve critical issues. The position also entails conducting applied failure analysis, managing technical service requests, working with district CAT Representatives to resolve warranty concerns, and developing cost-effective solutions for equipment performance issues. Furthermore, the Technical Communicator will mentor dealer technicians to enhance technical proficiency, assist sales & parts teams with technical product knowledge, and work closely with Caterpillar to improve equipment performance and service processes.
Requirements
- Degree in Diesel Technology or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong hands-on experience with Caterpillar engines & power systems
- Expertise in internal combustion engines (spark vs. compression ignition)
- Ability to read schematics, engineering drawings & machining specs
- Proficiency in precision measuring tools & dyno testing procedures
- Familiarity with CAT diagnostic & service systems
- Excellent communication & problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented & adaptable in high-pressure situations
- Team player with a passion for continuous learning
Responsibilities
