About The Position

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services and Systems division is currently seeking a Power Systems Controls Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC or Asheville, NC. This is a hybrid role with up to 50% travel. As a Power Systems Controls Engineer, you will provide field service systems integration engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of power system design and microgrid system design, programming, installation, start up, maintenance, repair, and training. The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year. This role also offers paid overtime. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Our Power Systems Controls (PSC) group is a full-service integrator of the necessary systems, equipment, and technologies to provide a complete power systems solutions. Our team of talented engineers and technicians provides single point responsibility and seamless integration, transcending all major manufacturers of HMIs, PLCs, protective relays, and switchgear controls related components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution with at least 1 year of experience in power distribution applications.

  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Power Monitoring and Control Systems and associated protocols (Modbus, etc.)
  • 2+ years’ experience with power system controls.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, test, and deploy software for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for Automatic Power Transfer applications (Main-Tie-Main, Main-Gen, Main-Tie-Main-Gen, etc.).
  • Follow customers specifications and internal specifications for project implementation.
  • Select components and create bill of materials.
  • Provide sketches, mark-ups, and direction to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings.
  • Prepare customer submittals, Sequence of Operation (SOO), and test procedures.
  • Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required.
  • Troubleshoot systems onsite and remotely.
