About The Position

The Power Systems Engineer is responsible for applying advanced electrical engineering expertise to the design, implementation, and support of power system automation and protection solutions. This role requires strong knowledge of electrical power systems and demonstrated experience using industry-standard tools such as PSSE, ETAP, and/or RTDS. The ideal candidate will work closely with customers to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and efficiency. The Customer applications include, but are not limited to: Data Centers, Utilities – Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Industrial Plants and Universities– Substation and Switchgear, Renewables – Wind, Solar, and BESS.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience using PSSE, ETAP, and/or RTDS
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, including analysis, modeling, Testing, and analyzing system behavior
  • Ability to understand and apply engineering principles within a power systems focus area
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training certificate
  • Experience in power system modeling, testing and study
  • Experience with protection relays, SCADA systems, or automation platforms
  • Familiarity with utility or industrial power systems environments
  • Experience in commissioning or field support activities

Responsibilities

  • Possess, understand, and apply fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures within a power systems focus area and related SEL products.
  • Train and assist customers in the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of automation and/or protection systems.
  • Complete assigned work within agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
  • Participate in the preparation of functional design specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design documents, reports, checklists, test reports, and other deliverables.
  • Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
