About The Position

Arista Networks is seeking a Power Supply Development Engineer to join their new Roseville R&D Lab. This role involves designing next-generation networking technology alongside experienced engineers. The engineer will be responsible for the design and implementation of multi-kW AC/DC and DC/DC chassis power systems, working with technical leaders in the industry.

Requirements

  • MS in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Experience with regulatory processes for designing and certifying power supplies in commercial electronics.
  • Excellent knowledge of AC-DC & DC-DC design issues, system-level power distribution, and industry best practices.
  • Experience sourcing power supplies ranging from 100 Watts to 3000 Watts, supporting both AC and DC input power.
  • Understanding of design challenges in large modular systems delivering total power up to ~30 kW.
  • Familiarity with 54V to 12V IBC 1–3 kW converter bricks and PCB power distribution layouts using such modules.
  • Excellent communication skills regarding requirements, critical path, and schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SPICE simulations is a plus.
  • Experience with custom product development is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define, develop, source, and qualify OEM power supplies to meet product and market requirements as part of the project team.
  • Spend time hands-on in the lab characterizing new power supplies.
  • Design and support dual grid and redundant AC or DC power systems.
  • Apply strong analog and power circuit design knowledge to system qualification.
  • Write clear and effective technical reports and communicate technical issues to a broad range of audiences including power teams, software engineers, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Monitor OEM vendor performance during power supply development.
  • Collaborate with vendor engineering teams abroad and lead projects from concept through production.
  • Participate in defining next-generation systems; innovate and propose improvements to existing designs.
  • Work closely with mechanical and compliance teams to ensure power distribution systems meet all national and international regulatory standards.
  • Consult with system and diagnostic engineers on best testing practices for compliance.
  • Travel internationally as required.
