About The Position

As a Power Specialist, you will be responsible for responding to customer quotation requests by obtaining quotes and bills of material from suppliers, developing bills of materials from plans and specifications, and pricing equipment. You will also process customer and vendor orders, manage order and quotation files, and develop shipping schedules. This role involves providing application and sales support for Power Distribution and Power Quality products, coordinating new product launches, and acting as a liaison between the company and Power vendors. Additionally, you will assist in developing yearly business plans, attending manufacturer training, and recommending procedural improvements. Coordination with the Lighting Group for bidding strategies and product selection is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in Electrical Distribution Sales or field experience working as an electrician or for a construction engineering firm.
  • Advanced sales skills including proven communication (both verbal and written) and consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to determine customer needs and to follow through on commitments.
  • Work history demonstrating self-motivation, self-management, multi-tasking and strong organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, or a technical field preferred; high school or equivalent with applicable experience.
  • Additional sales or field experience (five or more years) will be considered in lieu of meeting the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to customer quotation requests by obtaining quotes and bills of material from suppliers for incorporation into an equipment proposal.
  • Develop bills of materials for equipment from plans and specifications.
  • Price equipment utilizing vendor supplied software programs, the company’s business system, spreadsheets, and vendor or customer quotation forms.
  • Utilize and update the “Project Bid Log” for project quotes.
  • Process customer and vendor orders, changes, and cancellations as received by phone call, email, or mail.
  • Reconcile company quotations with customer purchase orders.
  • Set up and manage order and quotation files.
  • Develop and maintain drawings and shipping schedules for equipment on projects and coordinate shipping requirements with purchasing, warehouse operations, customers, and account managers.
  • Follow-up on open orders to ensure quoted ship dates are met.
  • Assist in closing out projects to assure accounts receivable and payable issues are mitigated.
  • Provide application and sales support of Power Distribution and Power Quality products distributed by the company.
  • Assist sales management in coordinating new product launches for customers and company personnel.
  • Act as the first point of contact between the company and Power vendors on marketing and product/application issues.
  • Assist sales management in developing a yearly business plan that includes identifying products, key accounts, new markets, account strategy, and stocking requirements.
  • Attend manufacturer’s training when available, to grow technical knowledge.
  • Review and recommend improvements in job procedures and work instructions.
  • Coordinate project bidding strategy with the Lighting Group to leverage additional sales when applicable.
  • Coordinate the quotation of Power Distribution projects and assist with the selection of products.
