About The Position

HDR is seeking a Power Market Sector Leader to oversee and direct the growth of its Power program across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Delaware. HDR is a recognized leader in the Power Market Sector, with over 1,000 professionals engaged in areas such as siting and routing, environmental due diligence, transmission and distribution design, power generation, and hydropower. The company has established offices in key locations within these states and is well-positioned to meet the design demands for utilities, data centers, and renewable energy. The ideal candidate will possess technical experience in power generation, power delivery, or a similar field, with a seller/doer approach to expand these services. Key responsibilities include program growth, client development, market diversification, and talent recruitment and development. This role involves collaboration with local, regional, and national leaders to guide the Power program's direction and ensure operational and growth objectives are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services.
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits.
  • Experienced in overall staff development, including recruiting, career path, and professional growth.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers, and Area Managers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values.

Responsibilities

  • Growing, monitoring, and participating in the execution of HDR’s Power services portfolio in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, and Delaware.
  • Partnering with local and regional business development leaders to anticipate market trends and implement strategies for work diversification and client relationship growth.
  • Identifying and pursuing opportunities for services including design, consulting, advisory services, owner's engineering, asset management, due diligence, and planning for clients such as power utilities, cooperatives, energy developers, industrial, and technology companies.
  • Establishing effective external teaming relationships to support program growth, including developing relationships with industry counterparts and representing HDR in industry associations and community organizations.
  • Providing leadership and project management to ensure projects have appropriate staff and are executed with quality.
  • Performing client management, project management, and/or technical support activities, serving as a Principal-in-Charge or Project Manager.
  • Coordinating with the PAOHWVDE Business Group Manager, Power Market Leaders, and Power Business Development Leaders to align resources and technical expertise with workload and marketing efforts.
  • Driving client growth locally and regionally, including recruiting and hiring staff to support business development and marketing plans.
  • Coordinating with local operations, section managers, and business group leadership to support work sharing efforts.
  • Leading and motivating staff to meet growth goals.
