About The Position

Work in this class involves the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage underground and overhead primary and secondary electric distribution lines. Install and maintain New River Light and Power’s fiber-optic network.

Requirements

• Completion of high school
• Six months of electrical experience
• Maintains required certifications
• Knowledge of electric power distribution lines
• Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code
• Knowledge of electrical theory
• Knowledge of system service rules and regulations
• Knowledge of pertinent policies and practices
• Ability to safely work on energized and de-energized lines
• Ability to lift more than 50 lbs
• Ability to climb poles
• Ability to work at heights
• Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks in various weather conditions
• 4-year minimum of recent high voltage electrical experience

Nice To Haves

• Credentials from an Electrical Utility Lineman School Program
• 4 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience
• 5 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience
• Lives within 20 minutes of Boone, NC
• Holds DoL Journeyman credentials
• Holds CDL Class B license
