The Power Generator Technician is responsible for testing, proper operation and repair of the power generation and power frequency converter equipment in support of technical assistance (TA). The Generator Technician shall participate in inspection and repair of the MEIs. Additionally, the Generator Technician shall advise on performing preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS). The Generator Technician shall perform advisory duties for the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, fault isolation, and testing of diesel generators to include 15kw/400Hz, 30kw/400Hz, and 150kw/400Hz. The Generator Technician shall advise on all levels of diesel generator maintenance to include field and sustainment maintenance. Efforts may include the installation of the generator sets and power frequency converters for system equipment. Support will be provided for the testing, operation and repair of all power generation and power conversion equipment (such as frequency converters). The Power Generator Technician will interface with manufacturers of power generation and power conversion equipment on a required basis. Responsible for performing Preventive Maintenance Checks Services (PMCS), troubleshooting and repairing of generators that support Patriot system. Coordinates PMCS and repair activities to the Lead. Creating 2404 and entering non-conformance into Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (iMRO). This position is located in Manama, Bahrain

Requirements

  • Graduate of the US Army Mast and Electric Power Plant Maintenance (ASI C9) course and the US Army Power Generation Equipment Repairer (MOS 52D or 91D) Course or a graduate of a technical school or manufacturer's course of instruction on diesel power generation equipment.
  • Work experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, disassembly, repair, assembly and checkout of power generation equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the repair and refurbishment of generators.
  • Working knowledge of the 15kw/400Hz, 30kw/400Hz and 150kw/400Hz diesel generators.
  • Demonstrated basic knowledge and experience with the organizational and intermediate electrical troubleshooting techniques of diesel generators.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices regarding operation and sustainment of electrical power generation equipment.
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance procedures on power generation of frequency converters.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in extreme desert heat environment.
  • Secret Security Clearance is required.

  • Establishes maintenance and repair schedules based on equipment schedules and availability of parts, tools, personnel, and unit mission.
  • Establishes internal administrative procedures to procure, store, and issue publications, tools, parts, and POL.
  • Manages maintenance float items to replace equipment not repairable within prescribed time limits.
