About The Position

Ziegler CAT has an opening for a full-time Power Generation Repair Technician to work on Caterpillar power generation equipment as well as other brands of industrial generators at our Des Moines branch. M-F Hours: 7:00am- 3:30pm. The pay range for this position is $27.00 to $45.00 Starting wage is dependent on skills, experience, education and location. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant’s location.

Requirements

2-year technical college degree in diesel technology or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 2 years of comparable shop mechanic experience
2+ years of relevant diesel engine/equipment repair experience is preferred
Working knowledge of electricity and electronics, engine diagnostics, failure analysis, switchgear and transfer switches; previous experience working on Caterpillar engines a plus but not required
Ability to write and communicate effectively and interact with supervisors, customers and team members
Basic computer skills to document work orders and utilize online diagnostic systems
Own mechanic tool set
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
This role is deemed safety sensitive and requires the ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

Nice To Haves

previous experience working on Caterpillar engines a plus but not required

Responsibilities

Diagnose, repair and maintain Caterpillar power generation equipment including diesel engine, generators, air compressors, industrial heaters, electrical distribution, climate control equipment, and industrial engines
Document work orders in a complete and timely manner to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction
Work safely at all times, following company policies, procedures and standards
Work collaboratively and assist other technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting repairs
Participate in ongoing training to enhance mechanical skills and grow product knowledge
