Requirements

  • Must possess 4th Class Power Engineer
  • 2 years experience operating boilers and industrial utility equipment
  • Knowledge of boiler operations, water treatment, water chemistry, steam systems, pumps, heat exchangers, and related utility equipment.
  • Ability to work 12 hr rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as required
  • Team player who also has the proven ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Good technical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to acquire and fully utilize skills in an efficient and practical manner to solve mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and continuously seeks professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • 3rd Class Power Engineer Certification considered an asset.
  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge and/or experience would be a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor boilers, steam systems, air compressors, pumps, refrigeration equipment, Generators and auxiliary plant equipment.
  • Perform water testing and monitor water treatment programs.
  • Clean, lubricate and repair generators, pumps, compressors and related equipment.
  • Maintain preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Carry out emergency maintenance activities and repairs as required.
  • Conduct regular plant rounds and inspections to ensure that equipment is running at optimal capacity through required operational checks.
  • Assist with new installations and machine modifications
  • Coordinate with maintenance, production, and management teams to support operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial regulations, company policies, and operating procedures.
  • Maintaining work areas in a neat and tidy condition with particular attention to health and safety.
