About The Position

Alleguard is currently seeking a 4th Class Power Engineer to support our manufacturing facility. This role involves operating and maintaining plant systems, ensuring efficient and safe operation, and adhering to company procedures and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Valid Class 4 Power Engineering Certificate
  • Steam boiler industrial setting experience preferred.
  • Forklift driving experience (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform each aspect of the job.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Strong troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

  • Operate the plant and site steam system, air compressors and cooling towers according to company procedures, policies and ABSA Standards.
  • Perform regular start-up and shutdown of boilers, monitor process water levels, monitor steam pressures, conducting water testing of boilers and record the data.
  • Monitor and inspect plant equipment, valves, gauges, alarms, meters and other instruments to measure temperature, pressure, and air flow to detect leaks or other equipment malfunctions and to ensure plant equipment is operating at maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain reports, logs and ensure the plant systems operates efficiently, safely and within specifications.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks, ex. filters, strainers, process water equipment.
  • Analyze and record instrument readings and equipment malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and perform corrective action and minor repairs to prevent equipment or system failure.
  • Maintain work practices that comply with company and government regulated policies.
  • Follow all safety procedures, policies and participate in the company safety program.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices and safe work habits.
  • Operate PEX Pre-expander steam operated equipment.
  • Handle and operate machinery in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Operate automated and computerized systems and auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitoring equipment to achieve production from the machine matching the quality, density and quantity constraints of the company.
  • Maintaining Production Reports and quality checking logs of each batch produced.
  • Clean equipment as scheduled and/or required.
  • Advise the management of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
  • Participate in routine maintenance.
  • Additional responsibilities as directed by the Production Manager.
