About The Position

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Power Distribution Engineering Technician (Field Support) to conduct field inspections and staking requests and, at times, perform assignments associated with the design and engineering of overhead and underground facilities across various voltage levels. The technician ensures compliance with safety code requirements, state and federal regulations, client procedures, and design standards. Working under the lead of a Senior Engineering Technician, the role executes fielding and staking requests and learns projects while collaborating with engineers on distribution, renewable energy, power storage, and communication designs.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other Windows-based programs.
• Ability to interpret data and solve problems.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree.
• Relevant industry experience.
• Experience with NESC, ASCE, and IEEE standards.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, IKE PoleForeman, MicroStation, O-Calc, or SPIDAcalc.

Responsibilities

• Drive to and from job sites and conduct field surveys or gather data to support project design and development.
• Perform staking requests for engineers with limited supervision using a GPS locating device.
• Stake facility locations using technical design drawings.
• Work with team members to troubleshoot issues and provide potential solutions on site and during project execution.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation and provide updates on assigned tasks.
• Learn and use client-specific engineering software tools to view technical drawings and documentation.
• Continue professional growth in relevant technologies and actively seek opportunities for professional development.
