HDR is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as a Team Lead within our Power Delivery practice. This role combines technical leadership, staff supervision, project oversight, and quality management. The successful candidate will lead a team of 3 to 5 engineers and designers while supporting the delivery of complex electric utility infrastructure projects and providing exceptional service to our clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in electric utility infrastructure projects
  • Working knowledge of utility design standards and construction practices
  • Multi-discipline project leadership experience
  • Strong background in one or more of the following: Transmission Line Engineering, Distribution Engineering, or Substation Engineering
  • Experience leading project teams and coordinating technical work
  • Experience managing or mentoring engineering staff
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience supporting proposal development and client relationship management

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Area Section Manager with operations and production of section including staff development, profitability, morale, quality, and marketing support.
  • May function as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, or technical lead and assist in responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities.
  • Assist with administrative responsibility for team staff and technical service functions and lead and coordinate services with other sections.
  • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews.
  • Be directly involved with Business Group clients in marketing, project production, and related issues.
  • Assist in verifying that project work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated proactively through a project management system.
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Assist in the selection, training, development, and management of technical personnel.
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Directly supervise a team of approximately 3-5 engineering and design professionals.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and career development guidance.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Assist with workload planning and resource allocation to support project and client needs.
  • Lead and oversee the execution of transmission, distribution, substation, and/or telecommunications engineering projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Review engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, quality, and compliance with client standards and industry requirements.
  • Support project managers with scope development, schedule management, risk identification, and budget performance.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when required.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for engineering quality and consistency.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of project deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution processes, standards, and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility clients and project stakeholders.
  • Participate in client meetings and support business development activities.
  • Assist in identifying new opportunities with existing and prospective clients.
  • Contribute to proposals, staffing plans, and strategic growth initiatives
