About The Position

Leidos is seeking Mechanical Engineering students to join their team as a Power Delivery Engineering Intern in their Orlando, FL office. Interns will partner and collaborate with senior engineers and other interns to solve real-world challenges for utility grid customers. This role is designed to expand upon current knowledge and skills, assisting interns in gaining expertise in the power delivery field. The Power Delivery Solutions group consists of electric utility engineering consultants who address challenging transmission, substation, and distribution engineering problems for utility clients nationwide. Leidos is a trusted solutions provider for utilities, with a portfolio including large energy projects for electric utilities, power generation owners, and industrial clients. The company also collaborates with industry-leading construction partners to deliver energy delivery solutions. Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering program at an accredited university.
  • Current GPA of 2.6 or higher.
  • Ability to work in both a field and office setting.

  • Professional Engineer License (PE)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Responsibilities

  • Develop skills in creating work packages for transmission, distribution, or substation engineering projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of project deliverables, including engineered drawings, technical reports, project-related correspondence, and miscellaneous project documentation.
  • Assist the team with the development of processes and procedures to improve project execution efficiency.
  • Provide technical and project support for high voltage transmission line projects as well as low voltage distribution projects within a team atmosphere.
  • Gain expertise in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Interface with local clients.
  • Perform Electrical Power Calculations.
  • Interact with other disciplines, including Substation, Protection & Controls, Transmission, Distribution, and Civil Structural.
  • Contribute to strategic development.
  • Expand a portfolio of business.
  • Partner with a variety of utility clients nationwide.
