We are currently seeking a Power BI Engineer to join our team in Dallas, Texas (US-TX), United States (US). Plesae note that this role is slated to be on-site 5 days/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or Reporting.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
  • 2+ years experience in in DAX, Power Query (M), and SQL.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Python, Power Automate, or automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with dimensional modeling, star schemas, and semantic models.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience working with large datasets and performance optimization techniques.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Risk Analytics, or Capital Markets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, department heads, and executive leadership to gather, document, and analyze business intelligence and reporting requirements; translate business questions into technical specifications for data models, dashboards, and analytical solutions.
  • Design and develop logical and physical data models (star schema, snowflake schema) to support enterprise reporting needs; define fact and dimension tables, establish relationships, and optimize data structures for query performance and scalability.
  • Design, build, and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL/ELT) processes to consolidate data from multiple heterogeneous source systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, SAP, Salesforce, cloud data warehouses) into centralized data warehouses or data marts, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
  • Design, develop, and deploy interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Microsoft Power BI, including: Building complex DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) measures, calculated columns, and calculated tables for advanced business metrics (KPIs, YoY/MoM trends, running totals, variance analysis); Developing and optimizing Power Query (M language) transformations for data cleansing, shaping, and integration; Constructing and maintaining Power BI data models using best practices for relationships, cardinality, and row-level security (RLS); Publishing and managing reports/datasets via the Power BI Service, configuring scheduled data refreshes, gateways (On-Premises Data Gateway), and workspace access controls; Creating reusable Power BI templates, custom visuals, and paginated reports (Power BI Report Builder) for standardized enterprise reporting; Implementing Power BI Premium/Fabric capacity optimization techniques to manage performance for large datasets.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to extract, aggregate, and analyze large datasets from relational databases; perform query performance tuning and indexing recommendations.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of business data to identify trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies; apply statistical methods to support forecasting, variance analysis, and root-cause investigation of business performance issues.
  • Partner with business units (Finance, Sales, Operations, Risk, or Client Delivery) to define, standardize, and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics aligned with organizational strategic goals.
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, validation rules, and reconciliation processes; document data lineage, business logic, and metadata to maintain a single source of truth across reporting platforms.
  • Work closely with data engineers, database administrators, software developers, and business analysts to ensure BI solutions integrate seamlessly with enterprise data architecture and align with IT governance standards.
  • Develop self-service BI capabilities by training business users on Power BI report consumption and basic report authoring; create documentation, data dictionaries, and user guides to support organizational BI adoption.
  • Prepare and present analytical findings, dashboards, and business recommendations to senior management and executive stakeholders to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Evaluate and recommend BI tools, visualization techniques, and emerging technologies (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Python/R for advanced analytics) to enhance the organization's business intelligence capabilities.
  • Implement role-based access controls and row-level security within BI platforms to ensure sensitive business and financial data is accessed only by authorized personnel, in compliance with organizational and regulatory data governance policies.
  • Maintain technical documentation for BI solutions including data flow diagrams, source-to-target mappings, and version control of Power BI reports/datasets; manage change requests and enhancements through a structured SDLC/Agile process.
