Requirements

  • Must be able to work in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Must be able to read and understand all company rules and GMP’s.
  • Must be able to work in a safe manner and follow all safety procedures.
  • Must be able to work well with other people.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • Must demonstrate good judgement when carrying out duties as assigned.
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computation skills.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to run equipment efficiently.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Minimum one month of related experience and / or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive and up to 8-12 hours.
  • Lifts up to 55 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Carries 55 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying above 55 pounds may be required.
  • Frequently pushes and pulls up to, but not limited to, 55 pounds in a repetitive manner.
  • Bends and stoops often.
  • Sometimes squats.
  • Occasionally kneels/crawls.
  • Often twists and turns while carrying.
  • Occasionally climbs and/or balances.
  • Frequently reaches in a repetitive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all functions of the Colby system, Ava Pac filler, carousel, bagger sealer, bulk filler, metal detector, palletizer area and all operation connected with powder packaging, including the bulk powder filler.
  • Set up all equipment and supplies as necessary.
  • Check and verify all codes, labels, weights, and packaging.
  • Train designated personnel in all facets of powder packaging.
  • Verify that the correct product is being packaged within packaging specifications.
  • Read a computer printout and follow a designated schedule.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and neat work area.
  • Bag a variety of powder products.
  • Change, maintain and check weights to the powder system to stay in company standards.
  • Clean the bulker lines, frame and palletizer.
  • Clean the carousel stainless and food surfaces.
  • Clean ante room dust collector area, floor and rails.
  • Clean bulker and AvaPak cabinets.
  • Clean bulker and AvaPak ducting and vents.
  • Safely operate forklift and put away pallets.
  • Pull powder samples for lab testing.
  • Responsible for master sanitation list.
  • Responsible for CCP and “Corrective Action.”
  • Responsible for CCP # 104 powder metal detection.
  • Make adjustments to the powder packaging equipment that will ensure maximum production without compromising quality.
  • Notify foreperson or supervisor immediately in the event that standards are not being met as well as any damage, irregular activity or unsafe conditions concerning equipment.
  • Climb stairs, ladders and work in confined spaces.
  • Assist with break and lunch relief as needed.
  • Train new hires and employees as needed.
  • Ensure all work is done in a timely fashion and done properly.
  • Get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees in accordance with the company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly.
  • Keep all floors, walls, equipment, and pipes clean.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs. “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
