About The Position

Assisting with the selection and movement of birds at approximately 4-6 weeks of age based on conformation, physical attributes, and family data provided by the tablet. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transfers and sexes birds.
  • Assembles equipment.
  • Bird movement from one house to the next or within houses.
  • Stacks and moves coops of birds.
  • Assists with identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band number, and audit market birds for wing bands.
  • Assists in set-up for selection by loading empty coops into house, placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access, hanging lights for better visual, set-up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords.
  • Properly euthanizes weak, ill and injured birds in accordance with company policy, properly disposing of euthanized birds.
