About The Position

Assisting with the selection and movement of birds at approximately 4-6 weeks of age based on conformation, physical attributes, and family data provided by the tablet. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 6 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If applicant has been laid off or providing child or elder care, the employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Previous work history will not apply to applicants who have been full time students consecutively for the last 36 months.
  • Rehire criteria is a minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • Rehire Rule of no more than 3 times worked at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move, using two team members, up to 50 pounds to move items such as bird coops, tables and tools.
  • May be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds such as stacks of bird coops.
  • Regularly required to stand the majority of the shift on multiple floor surfaces (concrete floor, shavings, etc.).
  • Required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to climb or step over.
  • Required to balance.
  • Required to stoop/bend repeatedly.
  • Required to talk and hear.
  • Required to drive a vehicle or back a trailer within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.
  • Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Team member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Transfers and sexes birds.
  • Assembles equipment.
  • Bird movement from one house to the next or within houses.
  • Stacks and moves coops of birds.
  • Assists with identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band number, and audit market birds for wing bands.
  • Assists in set-up for selection by loading empty coops into house, placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access, hanging lights for better visual, set-up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords.
  • Properly euthanizes weak, ill and injured birds in accordance with company policy, properly disposing of euthanized birds.
