About The Position

Performs litter management. Ensures litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses, prior to birds arriving and during the flock. Active, hands-on field operations inside poultry housing facilities; non-climate-controlled environment subject to seasonal temperature variations.

Requirements

• Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
• Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
• Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance.
• The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

• Performs litter management.
• Ensures litter levels are set up correctly in chicken houses, prior to birds arriving and during the flock.
• Monitors and responds to bird behaviors while maintaining communication with Supervisor.
• May collect weight and uniformity of the flocks.
• Works with supervisor and service technician.
• Performs all other duties as directed.
• Takes supplies to growers to include vaccines, wormer, chick paper, rodent control, etc.
• Visits several assigned locations throughout the day.
