Pouch Machine Operator

About The Position

The Pouch Machine Operator works in Operations and operates pouch machines to produce bubble pouches. The role is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting equipment and processes, ensuring production meets technical and product specifications, and supporting efficient changeovers and materials control. The operator may coach and oversee assistants, helpers, and packers, and also performs all duties outlined in the assistant job description and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Intermediate math skills.
English written communication skills.
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours at a time.
Ability to work continuously in a space-limited work area.
Ability to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds consistently.
General computer knowledge and experience handling paperwork.
Effective interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform the physical aspects of the role following recommended practices, with an emphasis on safety and injury prevention.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years in a manufacturing environment or machine-operator experience.
Inventory experience.

Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment and processes.
Ensure first offs are completed according to technical specifications.
Complete changeovers according to the standard.
Establish, follow, and improve equipment and setup parameters.
Coach and mentor assistants and helpers by providing clear and precise instructions, if assigned.
Ensure materials required for changeovers are available and secured before setup.
Ensure products are packed and identified according to specifications.
Maintain accurate inventory and effective control of materials and supplies.
Minimize work-center downtime through proper equipment setup and ensuring materials are present before changeover.
Report shortages of raw materials, tooling issues, and equipment issues to appropriate personnel.
Oversee assistants, helpers, and packers and provide clear and precise instructions.
Perform all duties outlined in the assistant job description and other duties as assigned.
