About The Position

Utz Quality Foods is hiring a Potato Handler to join its manufacturing team in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The role is responsible for managing the potato unloading schedule as directed by a supervisor and maintaining potato-handling equipment. The schedule is Friday through Sunday, 5:55 p.m. to 5:55 a.m.

The Potato Handler empties potato crates into hoppers, maintains water levels in flume systems, monitors and operates associated equipment and a forklift, and communicates with the potato department and fryer operators. The position also includes daily equipment cleaning, assisting with end-of-week sanitation, and completing quality and food-safety tasks.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and skills relating to potato unloading equipment.
• Knowledge of potato types and quality components.
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification and perform required daily inspections.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand English communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage the potato unloading schedule as directed by the supervisor.
• Empty potato crates into hoppers.
• Maintain water levels in flume systems.
• Monitor equipment associated with potato hoppers and flume systems.
• Maintain and operate a forklift.
• Communicate with the potato department about potato usage.
• Clean equipment at the end of each shift.
• Assist other operators with end-of-week sanitation.
• Report potato changes to fryer operators.
• Complete quality and food-safety tasks for the position.
