Requirements
- Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide direction on engineering policies, standards, and requirements to permit customers and departmental staff
- Work with maintenance personnel to determine which roads require reduced weight limits
- Conduct traffic and pavement studies to recommend weight restrictions and review engineering analyses
- Evaluate Highway Occupancy Permits and coordinate reviews related to drainage, safety, and geometry
- Prepare, review, and monitor heavy haul agreements and ensure repairs and maintenance follow established standards
- Assign, guide, and review the work completed by departmental and consultant inspectors
