The Khokha Lab investigates genes and developmental mechanisms that lead to congenital malformations. Its approach combines novel gene discovery in patients with congenital malformations and developmental mechanism discovery in Xenopus frogs. Working independently while consulting and cooperating closely with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientists, the Postdoctoral Scientist performs routine and complex laboratory procedures during a one- to five-year postdoctoral appointment. The role includes designing and conducting experiments, maintaining records, analyzing and interpreting data, and operating and maintaining equipment. The scientist may develop or adapt research techniques and protocols, assist with grant proposals, and contribute as an author or co-author to publications and presentations. The position is not responsible for generating grant funds. The scientist may observe interactions between physicians and patients or human research subjects when directly relevant to the research.
