About The Position

The Computer Science and Engineering Department at Penn State invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral research position in quantum computing, working with Professors Chunhao Wang and Xiantao Li. The successful candidate will conduct research on the development and analysis of quantum algorithms, with particular emphasis on simulating quantum systems and applications to scientific computing. Topics of interest include Hamiltonian simulation, open quantum system dynamics, quantum state preparation, and quantum algorithms for optimization and sampling. This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.

Requirements

Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline by the appointment start date.
Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Demonstrated record of research relevant to the position.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

Experience in one or more of the following areas: quantum algorithms, quantum information theory, quantum simulation, numerical analysis, or scientific computing.
Complementary expertise and a strong interest in quantum computing.
