About The Position
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar under the direction of Dr. Derek Hall. This is a term position, with the length of the term to be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding. Approval of remote and hybrid work is not guaranteed regardless of work location. Requirements
- Ph.D. in corrosion science, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field by the start date.
- Experience conducting laboratory-based experimental research.
- Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Experience preparing technical reports, figures, and presentations.
- Experience with x-ray CT characterization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct laboratory testing, perform data analysis, and develop the technical content needed to communicate the study findings.
- Execute corrosion experiments under simulated operating and offline conditions.
- Analyze results from advanced characterization methods such as X-ray computed tomography.
- Interpret corrosion behavior across different treatment conditions.
- Prepare figures, summaries, presentations, and technical reports.
