A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in Dr. Neal Bennett’s laboratory in the Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). The laboratory studies genetic drivers of cellular energy state and metabolic vulnerability in cancer and human neurons using functional genomics, and integrates multi-omic datasets to identify candidate therapies for inherited metabolic diseases, including through drug repurposing. The research group aims to advance basic biological understanding and therapeutic strategies across these disease areas. Areas of interest include metabolism, functional genomics and CRISPR screening, inherited metabolic disease modeling and treatment, tracer metabolomics and multi-omic integration, dementia, and certain cancers using stem cell (iPSC) and animal systems. The scholar will participate in laboratory research, develop innovative projects and tools, prepare results for publication and presentation, and present technical status reports at group meetings. The role also includes administrative laboratory duties such as placing orders, record-keeping, and rotating lab duties, as well as other duties as assigned.
