This is an entry-level research position focused on quantifying the market potential for solid carbon from turquoise hydrogen in construction materials. The work includes developing a material flow analysis framework for solid carbon use in U.S. asphalt and concrete markets; analyzing how solid carbon incorporation affects mechanical, thermal, and durability performance; mapping performance thresholds such as strength, modulus, and fatigue against incorporation rates to define safe and effective use limits; and designing pavement and building elements to quantify material savings from individual elements to community and network scales. The role also includes developing regional building and infrastructure archetypes, estimating solid carbon demand by material type and region, preparing technical reports and journal manuscripts, coordinating project data and analyses, and presenting results to stakeholders. Experiments and research are conducted under the close supervision of an Assistant Professor.
