About The Position

The Postdoctoral scholar will conduct research under the co-mentorship of Dr. Donneyong, Associate Professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practices and Science, College of Pharmacy, and Dr. Julie Johnson, Professor of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and Pharmacy (Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology), Director, Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), The Ohio State University. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and lead exciting research projects that blend methods in pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenomics, and Artificial intelligence (AI)/Machine learning (ML) techniques to generate real-world evidence on the use of prescribed medications using the OSU EHR-Helix linked data resource and claims databases. Under the mentorship of Dr. Donneyong and Dr. Johnson, the postdoctoral scholar will gain valuable experiences to help them transition into research independence, as such, the prospective candidate will be mentored to write research grant proposals, lead the development and publications of manuscripts, and mentor graduate students. The candidate will also be offered and encouraged to take advantage of research and career development opportunities offered through CTSI and other units within OSU.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD) or a PharmD with a master’s degree in Pharmacoepidemiology, Epidemiology, Health Economics, Health Services Research, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical/Health Informatics, Computer Science data science or related fields.
  • Strong quantitative background in pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacogenomics, bioinformatics, causal inference modeling, AI/ML methods.
  • Prior experience with analyzing real-world databases, especially claims and EHR databases.
  • Prior experience with cloud computing.
  • Strong programming skills using at least one of the following programming languages; SAS, R, SQL, or Python.
  • Prior publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts in reputable journals.
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.
