The Lukesh Research Group in the Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in organic chemistry and chemical biology. The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. John Lukesh on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of small-molecule donors (prodrugs) and reaction-based sensors to investigate the chemical biology and therapeutic potential of reactive sulfur and selenium species. Candidates should have a strong background in multistep organic synthesis and a willingness to apply a range of analytical, biochemical, and cell-based techniques. Experience with mammalian cell culture and cellular functional assays is desirable. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, collaborative, and interested in working at the interface of chemistry and biology. This position is available on a one-year contractual basis, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
