Carnegie Mellon University's Department of Materials Science and Engineering is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join Mohadeseh Taheri-Mousavi's group. This role will focus on computational research, applying CALPHAD-based ICME techniques combined with agentic generative AI to investigate the mechanical behavior of alloys in extreme environments, such as those found in jet engines. The department has a rich history, founded in 1906 as Metallurgical Engineering and has since expanded to encompass a wide range of materials including ceramics, polymers, semiconductors, and biological materials. The research conducted spans multiple disciplines, integrating physics, chemistry, civil, and electrical engineering.
