About The Position
The Travin Laboratory at the University of Illinois Chicago’s Retzky College of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate for a newly funded laboratory. The role focuses on discovering and characterizing novel antimicrobial compounds from bacterial sources, with particular emphasis on peptide natural products, their mechanisms of action, and their biosynthesis. Research includes microbiological and biochemical studies, isolation of novel bioactive compounds, and structural characterization.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Conduct microbiological and biochemical experiments.
- Isolate and elucidate the structures of novel antimicrobial metabolites.
- Maintain accurate experimental records.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Present research findings at scientific conferences.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
