Texas A&M University SystemCollege Station, TX
Onsite

About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will characterize G protein-coupled receptors using various in vitro and in vivo assays. This role involves localizing neuropeptides or receptors, performing endocrinological studies, and potentially conducting toxicological bioassays, mammalian cell culture, and high-throughput screens. The associate will also be expected to assist in training graduate and undergraduate students and supervise student workers. This position requires periodic travel to South Texas and the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. All positions are security-sensitive, requiring a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon credential verification and the completion of a criminal history check.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Molecular biology/ biochemistry/cell biology or related field.
  • Independence of thought, timely performance of experiments and clear written reports, following the pace of a laboratory that is federally funded.
  • Experience with qRT-PCR (RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis and qRT-PCR experimentation and data analysis).
  • Proficient in spoken and written English.
  • Periodic travel to South Texas is required.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle within the United States.
  • Candidates without previous publications in peer-reviewed journals may not be considered.

  • Localize neuropeptides or receptors and analyze tissues by immunohistochemistry.
  • Perform endocrinological studies (diuresis, muscle contraction) with arthropod tissues in vitro and in vivo.
  • May require a combination of: toxicological bioassays, mammalian cell culture (experience desirable), and use of robots for high-throughput screens (HTS) (can train here).
  • Work with and help train graduate and undergraduate students and supervise student workers as needed.
