About The Position

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the lab of Dr. Senthil Bhoopalan. The project focuses on developing curative therapies for bone marrow failure (BMF) disorders, which are catastrophic diseases of childhood. The lab utilizes induced pluripotent stem cell-derived hematopoietic stem cells and engineered hematopoietic stem cells to model patient mutations, and has advanced gene therapy for Diamond-Blackfan anemia. The current focus is on developing individualized genome editing-based treatments using base editors and prime editors for BMF disorders. This translational project, called DRIVE (Delivering Rare-disease In Vivo Editors), is funded by ARPA-H and aims to develop preclinical models and pipelines to demonstrate efficacy and safety for personalized genomic medicines for BMF disorders like Diamond-Blackfan anemia and GATA2 deficiency. The associate will work with a multidisciplinary team with expertise in genome editing, high throughput screens, hematology, cell biology, LNP formulation, technology development and commercialization, cGMP practices, technical writing, regulatory affairs, clinical trial design, and project management.

Requirements

PhD
Experience working with mice
Strong background in cell biology and HSC biology

Nice To Haves

Exposure to high-throughput screens, CRISPR/Cas9, base editors will strengthen the application

Responsibilities
