About The Position

The Neuroengineering Program seeks a highly motivated, collaborative postdoctoral researcher with expertise in neurophysiology and/or neuromechanics applied to sensorimotor control and neuroengineering. The role may involve leading research projects examining neural control of movement through noninvasive and mildly invasive electrophysiology alongside biomechanical methods; training will be provided for specialized procedures. It may also involve designing, assembling, or programming devices for novel experiments, such as actuators and sensors, and supporting student device-engineering projects. The researcher will collaborate with clinicians, specialized engineers, and neurosurgeons on research and translational efforts. The program combines engineering and neuroscience to study nervous system physiology and develop assistive technologies for people with neurological disorders. Its work includes creating tools for neural recording, stimulation, and modulation, with the aim of advancing basic understanding and addressing unmet clinical needs. The postdoctoral researcher will receive multidisciplinary training and mentorship in professional and personal development, including preparation of high-impact publications and conference presentations, development of translational neurotechnology, and mentoring junior trainees. The position is based in the Neuroengineering Lab at the University of Oklahoma, on the south side of the OU-Norman campus, and is part of the Stephenson School of Biomedical Engineering. The position includes a competitive salary and health insurance.
