Postdoctoral Research Associate

Texas A&M University System•Corpus Christi, TX

About The Position

Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on numerical methods for partial differential equations, particularly finite element methods in theory and implementation, applied to solid and fluid mechanics models. Research may focus on multi-component flows and regularized phase-field models; porous media flows, modeling, and computation; PDE-based modeling of cancer development and treatment; or other PDE-based models under development or planned. This is a one-year appointment, with continued employment contingent on funding availability. The associate will analyze applied mathematical models, develop and optimize parallel finite element and numerical simulation codes, conduct and document computational experiments, and present findings at conferences and collaborative meetings. The role also includes preparing manuscripts, technical reports, and computational-method documentation; contributing to grant proposals and supporting materials; and helping disseminate research. The associate will assist with mentoring students and maintaining research-group code repositories and documentation, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field; advanced ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Intermediate skills using LaTeX.
  • Basic programming experience.
  • Independent, self-motivated, and well-organized.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Assemble supporting materials for grant submissions, including figures, data summaries, and model descriptions.
  • Coordinate with the PI to maintain consistency across manuscripts, proposals, and project documentation.
  • Support research dissemination through conference abstracts, posters, and outreach materials.
  • Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students involved in the research group.
  • Support research group organization, including code repository maintenance and documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
