About The Position

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Mabruka Alfaidi in the Department of Cellular and Integrative Physiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The Alfaidi Lab studies vascular cell signaling and the role of molecular and genetic mechanisms in phenotypic changes associated with cardiopulmonary vascular disease. The successful candidate will design and conduct independent and collaborative research, analyze and interpret data, develop new research directions, and prepare scientific manuscripts under the guidance of the Principal Investigator. This position also offers advanced training to support scientific independence and career development, including opportunities to mentor students and contribute to a collaborative research environment.

Requirements

• PhD or MD/PhD in vascular biology, pulmonary hypertension, or a closely related biomedical field.
• Prior research experience in pulmonary vascular disease or related areas.
• Demonstrated expertise in endothelial cell culture.
• Demonstrated expertise in animal models of cardiovascular diseases.
• Demonstrated expertise in Western blotting and qPCR.
• Demonstrated expertise in immunohistochemistry.
• Demonstrated expertise in single-cell sequencing and ATAC-seq.
• Demonstrated expertise in statistical analysis of experimental data.
• Self-motivated.
• Able to manage multiple projects.
• Able to work independently.
• Able to maintain professionalism in a collaborative research setting.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in animal models of pulmonary or atherosclerotic diseases.
• Experience presenting research findings at local, national, or international meetings.
• Experience contributing to manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed scientific journals.
