About The Position

This position involves planning and conducting experiments, operating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, developing research concepts into proposals, preparing publications, supporting technology development, and providing technical guidance to students. The role requires a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline and at least two years of experience in experimental research and laboratory systems. The annual compensation is $44,100.

Requirements

Ph.D. or Doctor of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or a closely related scientific or engineering discipline
2 years of demonstrated experience in experimental research
2 years of demonstrated experience in construction and troubleshooting of laboratory systems
2 years of demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation
Experience with FTIR, DRIFT, ATR, UV-Vis, XRF, mass spectrometry is required
Working knowledge of laboratory practices and safety regulations required
Ability to instruct and /or supervise students required

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct experiments
Design, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory reactors, plasma systems, and experimental apparatus
Document results
Follow laboratory safety requirements
Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot FTIR, UV-Vis, XRF, mass spectrometry, and related analytical instrumentation
Interpret data
Develop research concepts and preliminary results into proposals for federal, state, and industrial sponsors
Prepare publications
Contribute to new externally funded and follow-on projects
Support technology development through prototype fabrication and testing
Intellectual property documentation
Provide technical guidance to graduate and undergraduate students in experimental methods, instrumentation, laboratory safety, and data analysis
