About The Position

The School of Engineering Medicine (ENMED) at Texas A&M University, in collaboration with the Texas A&M College of Engineering, Texas A&M School of Medicine, and Houston Methodist Hospital, offers an innovative medical school program called ENMED. This program aims to transform healthcare through translational interdisciplinary research, the development of medical technologies, and the training of “Physicianeers.” ENMED provides a revolutionary blended curriculum focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, enabling students to earn both a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Engineering degree in four years. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will conduct research within their field of expertise, utilizing their education and experience to complete research projects.

Requirements

  • PhD or MD/PhD in immunology, molecular and cancer biology, infectious diseases, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience with immunological and molecular biology techniques
  • Proficiency in cell culture, PCR, flow cytometry, and cell sorting
  • Hands-on experience in the generation and characterization of transgenic mice
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of molecular biology and immunology
  • Substantial experience in working with Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in single-cell analyses (scRNA-seq & scATAC-seq)
  • Experience in handling laboratory mice

Responsibilities

  • Project leadership: Will lead or contribute to one or more of the following high-impact projects: Generation of Novel Group 1 CD1 (CD1a, CD1b, CD1c)–transgenic C57BL/6 mice, Development of next-generation human immune system mouse models, Functional characterization of carbohydrate-specific T cells (Tcarb) using TCR-transgenic mouse models, Generation of mice expressing TCR specific for a novel malaria antigen 7DW8-5 glycolipid (CD1d/NKT ligand) as an immunotherapeutic agent for infectious diseases and cancer, PD-1 / LAG-3 blocking peptides to advance the next frontier of CAR-T cell therapy.
  • Research: Utilizes knowledge and skills granted to them by their education and expertise to complete research projects in their field of expertise. Assists with the preparation and cleaning of worksite. Analyzes research data and summarizes results. Writes and may contribute to research papers, articles, and publications.
  • Mentoring: May assist, mentor, and/or supervise student researchers and/or graduate students who are working on research related to the project.
  • Presentations: Prepares presentation materials on research topic that may be presented to small and/or large groups. Actively participates in the preparation of required technical progress reports to research sponsors.
