About The Position
A postdoctoral position is available in the research lab of Dr. Tim Miyashiro within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at The Pennsylvania State University. The Miyashiro lab investigates mechanisms of bacterial colonization of hosts using the squid-Vibrio model system using a range of techniques including animal studies, genomics, and molecular biology.
Requirements
- Background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including protein identification, quantitation, and thermal proteome profiling.
- Background in mass spectrometry-based targeted and untargeted metabolomics.
- Experience with biochemical assays assessing biomolecular interactions.
- Experience with bacterial genetics and molecular cloning.
- PhD in microbiology or equivalent life-sciences field.
Responsibilities
- Providing intellectual leadership in experimental design, execution, and interpretation of results.
- Assisting with writing publications.
- Assuring scientific rigor, consistency, and record keeping within the labs.
- Participating in all aspects of the labs, including squid-colonization assays.
